Moments of Joy is a reflective body of work that celebrates the beauty of slowing down and cherishing life’s simple pleasures. Inspired by motherhood, family, and personal experiences. Ducks symbolize laughter and happiness, and they take center stage in my whimsical tableware and serene water scenes. Through delicate porcelain, tranquil glaze, and gentle humor, the work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and immerse themselves in their own joyous memories.

THE ART OF MOTHERHOOD: EXPRESSING THE UNSEEN REALITIES
Motherhood has long been a recurring theme in art and is central to my practice, informed by both personal experience and a desire to challenge stereotypes surrounding it. Through ceramics and sculpture, I explore motherhood as a complex, emotional, and evolving journey beyond biology, encompassing care, resilience, and love. Using animal forms, self-cast faces, and expressive glazes, I investigate touch, vulnerability, and feelings of overwhelm. Influenced by artists such as Johnson Tsang and Bari Ziperstein, my work highlights the unseen realities of motherhood and the deep human connections shared among mothers, parents, and carers.
Influenced by Tom Dixon’s “expressive minimalism,” I explored simple forms, initially using literal coal feet. Through feedback, I refined my approach, introducing ash glazes, black stains, and underglazes to evoke coal subtly. A restrained palette helped shape a cohesive collection capturing the essence of the Coal Office.
ESSENCE
This body of work reflects who I am—my life, beliefs, loves, strengths, and vulnerabilities. What began as a challenging personal journey transformed when I invited those close to me to share their perspectives, allowing me to see myself through others’ eyes. That shift was a catalyst for deeper connection. Despite ongoing challenges, strength, determination, love, and the support of chosen family have given me more than I once imagined. We all roar sometimes—and that’s okay.
JOY
Beneath the surface is a collection of tableware and decorative pieces representing motherhood, the maternal bond, and the depths to which we go as both a giver and a receiver.
BENEATH THE SURFACE
